Large Kaheru/Kingfish School mixed colour
We have used our Kingfish to create this large school. We have ground the backing plate in a sweeping motion to flow with the fish. It also creates depth and motion drawing your eyes in for a closer look. All cut from 316 marine grade stainless steel ground, rolled, shaped and coloured to bring them to life then coated with lacquer, for a deep shiny finish.
We have chosen to colour this piece we a mixture of our heat treated style fish along with Janine’s skilled hand on the airbrush. One 3rd of the fish are coloured with Greens and yellows with fish marking spots scattered throughout which starts the colouring line along the middle of the body, folding into Light Blue tones all the way through to dark blue on the top for the body.
The second 3rd are Similar, but with green tones from the middle body line through to to top. We have tried to achieve a sense of bubbly water on the green fish in hope to add contrast and depth amongst the school.
The other 3rd of fish we have used our traditional heat treated style. The larger part of the lower body is left silver which lets the grinding flow come out on display. This is great for adding texture and movement to the fish. A lite colouring is added to the fins. It sits well with the silver stainless steel.
We like how the mix of colour works well with one another bringing the school together as one but helps add multiple layers throughout, along with our Assembly style and positioning.
Can be made swimming right or left. Hand picked pieces of paua included for their eyes on the heated fish. Ideal as a larger statement piece. All pieces are very unique being all hand crafted no two are ever the same ……… . Easy to install with a stainless chain on the back, also makes it easy to change the angle/direction of the school once mounted on your wall.
