22 Kingi School "Heat treated"
This piece has been a VERY popular piece since we first started making it and still is. A number of happy customers have told us how much they like the larger size of our individual fish used in this piece. Our “Kingis” are 290mm size.
All cut from 316 marine grade stainless steel ground, rolled and heated to bring them to life. Lacquer has been applied for durability and shine. On the backing plate you can see how we grind it to look like the water flowing over-around-through-with the fish. It also creates depth and motion drawing your eyes in for a closer look. We use our darker colour range along the top of the body/fillet and the middle of the tail. Then the bottom 3 fins are coloured gold, this somehow seems to give the fish more depth to look at. The larger part of the body is left silver which lets the grinding flow come out on display. Colours are achieved with different levels of heat. We use a small flame and lots of patients , this helps us with the control of applying the colour to exactly where we want it. It can be very easy for the colour to bleed out into the rest of the fish. We've been told that the shape of the school represents a dolphin or fish, same have even commented a sting ray can be seen. All include paua shell pieces for eyes. This really adds another layer of colour and sparkle. This piece will cover any spot you have in mind to install on. All pieces are very unique being all hand crafted no two schools are ever the same ……… . Easy to install with a stainless chain on the back, also makes it easy to change the angle/direction of the school once mounted on your wall.
