Large Koheru/Kingfish school heat treated multi colourings

We have used our Kingfish to create this large school. We have ground the backing plate in a sweeping motion to flow with the fish. It also creates depth and motion drawing your eyes in for a closer look. All cut from 316 marine grade stainless steel ground, rolled, shaped and heated to bring them to life then coated with lacquer, for a deep shiny finish. Colours are achieved with different levels of heat. We use a small flame and lots of patience, this helps us with the control of applying the colour to exactly where we want it. It can be very easy for the colour to bleed out into the rest of the fish. We use our darker colour range ( deep purple/red/blue) along the top of the body/fillet and the middle of the tail. Then the bottom 3 fins are coloured gold giving the fish the appearance of more depth within the piece. The larger part of the body is left silver which lets the grinding flow come out on display. This is more noticeable when made with our sparse numbered schools. Can be made swimming right or left. Hand picked pieces of paua included for their eyes. Ideal as a larger statement piece. All pieces are very unique being all hand crafted no two are ever the same ……… . Easy to install with a stainless chain on the back, also makes it easy to change the angle/direction of the school once mounted on your wall.
