Made on request for Jemma & Dave

We have combined 36 of our larger kingfish & 30 small kingfish. Splitting the fish in 3rds Dave & Jemma picked 3 different styles for us to paint them in.
Blues was the main brief and from there we decided to use 3 different tones of blue along with the yellow we place through the middle of the body. Janine has a technique that on closer inspection, makes the middle yellow line look as if it’s real fish skin. We are always big on the finer details.
Blue spots were added to 1 3rd of the fish which worked well in mixing up the flow of the school on the eye. We then worked through some techniques to achieve different scale patterns and come up with two different styles. One style is  more prominent that stood out and is easy to spot from a distance, with the other style more camouflaged within the background of the top coat of paint. These scales pop out on closer inspection. The lighter aqua colour sits really nice along the yellow & middle of the Fillet with the darker blue folding into it nicely. Combining our two different sizes of kingfish fills out the school in a way that may be seen in the ocean. It also aids the look of depth perception within the school, with Some fish seeming to be way down deep within the school formation. We blow the size out to accommodate the space we had to fill. The Hole in the middle of this piece helps this school site nicely on any wall and not dominate it’s setting.

All cut from 316 marine grade stainless steel, ground, rolled and airbrushed to bring them to life then coated with lacquer. The larger part of the body is left silver which lets the grinding flow come out on display. This is more noticeable when made with our sparse numbered schools. Can be made swimming right or left. Ideal as a larger statement piece. All pieces are very unique being all hand crafted no two are ever the same ……… . Easy to install with a stainless chain on the back, also makes it easy to change the angle/direction of the school once mounted on your wall.
